Still, I Will Sing!: A Journey of Hope and Healing by Scott Callaway Folsom is a story of incredible resilience, perseverance, and faith despite the loss of a spouse and overcoming his own health scare, diagnosed with leukemia.

Throughout, the author offers hope for those who travel along on life’s road. Through the telling of his wife’s death, in particular, he shares deep and profound lessons that he came to understand about grief.  I found the lessons soothing and helpful, as tears welled up in my eyes. No one escapes this temporal life without facing their own losses and griefs in life. The comforting way the author tells the truth about grief was much appreciated! The old adage that “time heals all wounds” is a nice thought, but not really the case. There is always a space of sadness, and they are always with you in one’s heart. This grief changes us. However, we learn to go on. A powerful anonymous poem reveals his feelings after losing his wife of thirty-four years – that was a gem of a poem that readers will appreciate!

When faced with his health diagnosis, many Facebook posts by the author reveal the tracking of his own journey with “that dreadful disease” cancer. What is truly amazing is his ability to write during his times of trial, not to mention the courage and the faith he had for the journey. This was profound to me. This book brings great hope to those traversing the dreaded “C” word, or for any other fiery trial.

Overall, I found this book incredibly insightful and a touching memoir filled with encouraging scripture and plenty of hope for anyone facing life’s tumultuous trials. The author has certainly captured the end of it all: Still, I Will Sing! Amen!

A highly recommended read for those encountering life’s storms. The book is telling of hope and healing. I love this book!
