This is one man’s journey to becoming a man of God, through a process. He expresses that the end game is a servant’s heart, a Christ-like attitude, and serving others in relationship. Developing this book (for men and women) teaches, challenges, and presents a study to become the man of God or woman that God has called each individual to be. As he states, this goes beyond title or an authoritarian viewpoint. Biblically based, he also presents his own journey as a child to becoming Oscar Mike in the military. However, his upbringing, his childhood with all his dreams and aspirations, and his life’s memoir played a part; he showcases that journey wonderfully. He writes to those men (and women) out there to encourage and uplift them in their fight in this life – the fight of faith – to endure, and calls them to become men of God (and women of God), they are to be according to the Bible and personal calling.
With chapters such as: Are You a Tough Guy? A Man of God is Created in HIS Image, A Man of God is Justified, Sanctified, and Called (Glorified), A Man of God is Sold Out, A Man of God Prays Without Ceasing, A Man of God Worships, A Man of God Truthfully Looks Within, A Man of God Has Christ-esteem, A Man of God Forgives, A Man of God Follows the Way of Discipline, A Man of God is Authentic, A Man of God is a Servant, and A Man of God is Actively Involved in Forgiveness.
I was hooked from the first chapter of his boyhood challenge from his father after being beaten up by the town bully. “Now go beat his ass.” Times were different back then, and this book captured my interest from the get-go with the author’s humorous beginning. Unfortunately, the days of the family of “Leave it to Beaver” are gone; however, this book has a reminiscent quality and is comforting to remember “how it used to be.” I just loved this book, the honesty, the humor, the raw telling of his own journey, and designing a study to help others. A delight to read, study, and apply to one’s own life.
This is a Must-Read for those who endeavor to seek the Lord in His Word, with His Spirit, wholeheartedly, and desire true knowledge of servanthood. Becoming a Man of God is a wonderful journey to surrender, study, leadership through discipleship, servanthood, and advocate active forgiveness.
Recommended for personal or small group Bible studies – This book would be an excellent read for those in the military as well!
