Mr. Cutler owned a shop called “Cutler’s Wonderful Creations.” His daughter, Alina, had a birthday soon and he wanted to create something special for her. He crafted a silver spoon, fork, and knife set. Each day, as Alina would eat, she would use the Spoon. Soon Fork and Knife became discouraged because they felt set aside and were not used. They wanted to be just like Spoon. But when Alina tried to use Fork one day for her cereal, it was a disaster. Fork could not work like Spoon did. Soon Mr. Cutler stepped in and he announced that he had another job for Fork and Knife. Dinner time came; steak was served. It was there at the dinner table that Fork and Knife would learn their new identity and find a renewed sense of purpose.
This book teaches children that they were created uniquely and for a special purpose by God. With the analogy of Spoon, Fork & Knife, children learn that they have a God-given identity and not to compare themselves with others. Children learn to be happy with who they are created to be by a God who gave them their own special design.
This is a short and easy-to-read book that shares with children the value of knowing and learning their created identity and teaches that comparison with others, who are so different than them, will not serve purpose. Security and purpose come when you find the thing that you are created to do. This is the way God designed each and every person, as we all have our unique and special gifts. This is such a wonderful and faith-filled way to teach children contentment in their God-given purpose.
